Excited to share my beautiful bride, Crystal’s bridal portraits now that she is married! We spent the afternoon at a variety of locations in downtown Wilmington and ended our shoot on Wrightsville Beach. I am so lucky to have such great brides to work with! Crystal loved modeling her wedding dress and we had a great time taking photos.
I am very excited to announce that the new Bride’s Book magazine cover features my photo of our gorgeous couple, Brooke and Chris! Also, I am pleased to share the 1950′s bridal shoot that I styled with my beautiful model, Leigh. We filmed in downtown Raleigh at The Dinner and then headed up to Chapel Hill for more photos at Sugarland- one of my favorite bakeries. Leigh wore a fantastic 1950′s vintage wedding gown and her hair and makeup was styled in true 50′s fashion. She looked like a doll!

Style Girl Jess James, The City Club and Land Rover presented Wilmington’s first Great Gatsby Gala inspired by the Great American Novel, forthcoming remake of the film (directed by Baz Luhrmann, this 3-D film will star Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan) and the joie de vivre of the Jazz Age glamourized by Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. This style-conscious event included delicious food, live music by Benny Hill jazz trio, 1920’s inspired shopping, exclusive giveaways, “best dressed” contest and an atmosphere that brought us all back to the Roaring Twenties! The highlight of the evening was the gorgeous Burlesque dancer that preformed exclusively for the City Club members in the club’s ‘speak easy’ in the downstairs grille.

Ashley and Cole celebrated with over 200 friends and relatives in downtown Wilmington for their lovely June wedding. They said their vows in a beautiful ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and then we traveled by trolley bus to Greenfield Lake for some cooler, shady photos for the bridal party and bride and groom. Then it was off to The Balcony on Dock for dinner and lots and lots of dancing! The couple ended the evening with a sparkler exit and left in a horse drawn carriage. It was truly a magical day! Congratulations Ashley and Cole!

I am a huge fan of Chinese lanterns! It is so fun having the black and white checkered dance floor with all of the lanterns overhead. It just makes you want to dance!

Michelle and Brian ended up exploring a bit of the wild side of Wilmington for their engagement photos! Their photo shoot included poison ivy and alligators. We all came out of it okay, but some of us are still a little itchy! We all decided it was worth it to get these beautiful images for their upcoming September wedding.

Morgan and Basil are a truly remarkable couple and it was a privilege to be a part of their extraordinary wedding. After 9 years of dating, they married at St. Thomas Preservation Hall with their close friends and family in attendance. They expressed their unique relationship and personalities throughout the details of their Moroccan themed wedding designed by The Three Divas. The couple has close ties to South Africa and even lived there during a study abroad. They incorporated elements from their travels to Africa in the flowers they chose, the cake design and even the orange stone in Morgan’s engagement ring. When Morgan told me they were interested in taking their photos in alleys with rustic backgrounds and possibly a pool hall, I was ecstatic and with the addition of Dan Burke’s red London taxi from Cape Fear Tours it was a photographer’s dream come true!
When I see glittery shoes- I know it’s going to be a good day!

Erin and Lukas had a shabby chic waterfront wedding with spectacular views. The most perfect location I’ve ever seen for a Wilmington wedding, courtesy of Erin’s parents who live on the water and have the best backyard ever! The scene was perfect for a laid back, elegant affair that featured excellent food from Tommy Mills of Little Pond Catering and gorgeous water color flowers by Fiore Fine Flowers.
I think this may be one of my most favorite reception/flower shots ever. It just feels light and airy. I loved having the water and beautiful trees for a backdrop.
Erin decided to pick strawberries and make homemade jam for her guests a few days before the wedding. Yummy!

Angela and Rob had one of the very first weddings to take place at the newly renovated Brooklyn Arts Center at St. Andrews! It is always great to photograph at a new location and this one was especially fun! Angela had the vision of trees lining the walkway of her ceremony and it made for an elegant garden like feeling. This wedding took place just a week before the Royal Wedding and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Kate and William had the same idea! The Brooklyn Arts Center was built in 1888 and a lot of work has gone into restoring the building. It is great that the original staircase is still a part of the building because it the perfect place to take photos with interesting rustic backgrounds with beautiful light that streams in the windows of the corner tower.
